Protect the Ummah’s Imān
Support the Global Why Islam Is True Movement
Your monthly contribution funds the mission to:
- take Why Islam Is True to the world,
- train scholars,
- mentor converts,
- and defend the beauty of the Prophet ﷺ with scholarly rigor.
A Fourteen-Centuries-Long Tradition
When you support our mission, you become part of a tradition that stretches back to the earliest centuries of Islamic civilization. For more than fourteen centuries, the spread of Islamic knowledge and guidance through scholars and institutions of learning has been sustained by the generosity of Muslims who believed in supporting it.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward equal to the reward of those who follow it, without it diminishing from their reward in any way.” (Muslim)
When you help strengthen the īmān of a Muslim, you aren’t just helping them. You’re also helping their children and all of the future generations of Muslims that will come from them. And when you help them and their children, Allah will also help you and your children.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that spreading religious knowledge is a kind of charity whose benefits you will continue to be rewarded for even after you leave this world. (Muslim)
He also said that, “For Allah to guide a single person through you is better than your most valuable possessions.” (Bukhari)
When you become a Supporter, you make our work possible, and you are rewarded for:
- every Muslim who finds Why Islam Is True through the platform you fund;
- every convert who is mentored through the Converts Connect Initiative;
- every doubt answered by an imam trained through the Beyond the Minbar Initiative;
- every daʿwa conversation that is conducted with the prophetic method through the Reviving Daʿwa Initiative; and
- every non-Muslim who encounters the beauty of the Prophet ﷺ through the Discover & Defend the Prophet Initiative.
Three Crises in the Ummah Today
Young Muslims are losing their īmān — 1 in 4 Muslims raised in America is leaving Islam.
New Muslims are leaving Islam at devastating rates — convert-care workers on the ground report up to seven out of ten new Muslims walking away from Islam within their first few years.
The men and women trained to guide the Ummah — imams, scholars, community leaders — are under-equipped for the intellectual challenges of the modern age.
Turning debate and attack into dialogue and empathy. Restoring the prophetic method.
What Your Monthly Support Funds
When you become a Supporter, your contribution does two things at once.
First, it keeps Why Islam Is True and Sacred Steps free for the world.
Second, it funds the four community initiatives that Basira runs on the ground all over the world.
Initiative 1
Beyond the Minbar
Training imams, scholars, prison chaplains, teachers, and community leaders to handle atheism and contemporary intellectual challenges with rigor, open-mindedness, and compassion.
We have trained 1,400+ teachers across 21 countries. Our teachers are spreading the arguments for the truth of Islam and responding to doubts about Islam in youth-groups in mosques, classes and lectures in universities, weekly classes at Sunday schools, regular courses at Islamic schools, and among Muslims in the prison-system.
Our Goals This Year
- publish a comprehensive manual of logical arguments for the truth of Islam;
- produce a high-quality classroom textbook with a corresponding student activity book and teachers guide book that help newly-trained teachers get up and running, ready to teach instantly;
- disseminate these textbooks, student-activity books, and teachers guide books to 300 maktab teachers all over the world;
- develop a high-quality hybrid teacher-training platform, including recordings and live support, to train large masses of imams, scholars, teachers, prison chaplains and community leaders effectively and quickly;
- bring Why Islam Is True into the official online learning platform for prisoners in the United States, giving 1.1 million prisoners free access to the course;
- train prison chaplains to mentor prisoners who have doubts about Islam or who are considering accepting Islam;
- deploy a seminary-level curriculum in Muslim seminaries to revive the traditional Islamic sciences of critical thinking and Quranic rational arguments; and
- continue training scholars and imams worldwide.
Initiative 2
Reviving Daʿwa
Training daʿees and the average Muslim to have friendly and intelligent conversations about Islam, Christianity, atheism, and other religions — to help their non-Muslim neighbors, colleagues, and friends see that Islam is the truth.
The Problem
On one side, modern public daʿwa has become combative: shouting matches in public spaces, YouTube ridicule, and debate-for-the-sake-of-winning. On the other side, many Muslims imagine that daʿwa is simply handing someone a translation of the Quran. Daʿees are in dire need of knowledge and training.
Our Solution
Educate daʿees in logic, critical thinking, Christianity, atheism, other religions and worldviews, and over a hundred beautiful examples from the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Then teach them the prophetic three-step method:
- 1Steel-Man. Take the opponent’s argument and make it even stronger than they expressed it — showing empathy and meeting them where they are.
- 2Flip the Script. Show that if you understood who the Prophet ﷺ really was, you wouldn’t even imagine thinking this about Islam — demonstrating how he is the exact opposite of the accusation, to an amazing degree.
- 3Truth-First. Then, and only then, present the rational arguments for the truth of Islam.
We have trained daʿees in Texas, South Africa, Mauritius, and Istanbul, and produced and disseminated Why-Islam-Is-True daʿwa pamphlets that prove the existence of God and the beautiful character of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Our Goals This Year
- produce and disseminate a daʿwa manual;
- produce and disseminate a daʿwa booklet and 5 daʿwa pamphlets about the miraculous beauty and miracles of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ;
- produce and disseminate a booklet that responds to the Islamic Dilemma (the most widely-used Christian argument against Islam);
- train 50 daʿees; and
- develop and deploy an online platform to provide free webinars and shahadas to non-Muslims who are interested in Islam.
Initiative 3
Discover & Defend the Prophet ﷺ
Scholarly responses to attacks on the Prophet’s character, with inspiring, evidence-based content showing him as the most beautiful human being in history.
The Problem
Christian missionaries, ex-Muslims, and Islamophobes are launching thoroughly-researched attacks against the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. These attacks are stronger than they have ever been before, and they are everywhere. Most Muslims feel these attacks but do not have the tools to respond rationally.
Our Solution
50+ free online videos (and growing), divided into two categories:
- Discover the Prophet: Short, evidence-based videos that reveal the miraculous humility, mercy, selflessness, and beautiful character of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — examples most Muslims (let alone non-Muslims) are unaware of. If they knew them, they would immediately dismiss attacks on him as false.
- Defend the Prophet: Scholarly, thoroughly-researched responses to common attacks. They don’t just defend the Prophet ﷺ — they turn the attack on its head and show that the very hadiths used to attack him are, in reality, examples of his miraculous beauty that prove his genuine messengerhood.
Distribution: open access on YouTube, free for everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim alike. Your support funds the production.
Initiative 4
Converts Connect
A full mentorship program for new Muslims, addressing the crisis of 7-out-of-10 converts leaving Islam.
We have mentored converts across 45 countries on 5 continents.
The Problem
Most converts are welcomed by a WhatsApp group and an untrained volunteer. There is no curriculum, no structured mentorship, no rational foundation built underneath the emotional moment of shahadah. When the emotional high fades — through community disappointment, family pressure, or discovered doubts — most converts leave Islam.
Our Solution
Free seminars, free online courses, and free 1:1 mentorship, designed specifically for the journey of conversion:
The Programs
- Why Islam Is True: Convert Edition — moves the convert from emotional belief to rational conviction, so the iman has a foundation when the emotion fades.
- Divine Dialogues — essentials of prayer and duʿa, building the spiritual connection with Allah from day one.
- Footsteps of Light — a sira course designed especially for converts: the Prophet’s humility, concern for the weak, compassion, and mercy.
- Sacred Steps (convert track) — spiritual development with step-by-step action plans and a success tracker.
- Guided Growth — regular online meetings and personal 1:1 mentorship for the real-life challenges converts face: family rejection, old friends, community integration.
We also run regular free convert retreats in collaboration with the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. By the grace of Allah, we have been mentoring converts for two years; our goal now is to scale by publishing convert-care resources and training institutions.
Our Goals This Year
- publish and disseminate a guide for converts on dealing with rejection, family, old friends, and community integration;
- publish and disseminate a guide for converts on getting started with Islam;
- produce an online training course for convert-workers;
- train 5 institutions to provide convert-care; and
- continue mentoring converts.
